Validation & Plausibility Checker

Top of page

After input of all specific data stemming from the monitoring stations the most important step occurs:

the data wil be processed and checked by the so-called 'Curriculum Vitae Processor' = Validation Module in a gradual procedure and consecutely fed into the UBIS data base (UDB). With this procedure each individual value acquirered and transmitted passes through a series of different checks depending upon configuration as set and activated. Highlights just to name a few, are -

  • instant and realtime validation, enriched by optional automated adjustment or compensation algorithms based on corresponding past and future calibration results online
  • plausibility checker based upon continuous data pattern search algorithms (e.g. 'stuck' values,..)
  • handling of a second, separate data acquisition time interval (e.g. 30-second, 3-minute, ....)
  • acceptance of data from multiple sources and different formats by means of a dedicated
  • Import & convert module to provide 'extended network management'
  • provision of high consistency and quality of data by means of an AIP-designed bi-levelled failure recognition algorithm.
Finally, various resulting markings (e.g. revision level, calibration deviation factor, quality mark, ...) and additional status messages transmitted from the monitors too, will be input into the UDB together with the original- or "raw"-data acquired.

Evaluation Handler

Individual settings can be bundled for group-wise oriented presentation and data processing and also run in an autonomous and unmanned, synchronised ("automatic") mode, where grouping regards to monitoring sites and/or pollutants. Since main focus lies on fast and effective revision and correction of data, graphically supported pinning of abnormalities best looked upon at time series presentation, is eased by zooming and ruling mechanisms with direct switch-back to their tabular listing. At listings Individually measured values can be rejected or simply confirmed to be valid, revision levels may become changed or markings either be set or removed.

Online Quality Assurance

To compensate aberrations caused by any source of errors during measurement cycles onsite, plus a lot of possible adulterations based on ambient influence as well, a highly dedicated logging database has been designed for effective operation. Going even further, manually insertable comments and notifications ease later retrieval and documentation. Highlights just to name a few, are -

  • registration of each single event in general and change of processing state of equipment in use
  • additional notification of alarm status and configuration changes of system state
  • tabular revision tables switchable to graphical time series presentation for easy anomality detection
  • wide area 'smoothing' calculation (scalable moving averages)
  • calibration configuration information for application of flags accompagnying data measured
